The website of the White House has been converted to open source and is now based on Drupal content management system.Although the website looks the same, the back-end is totally different and the existence of a large open source software community developing and supporting the code makes it more secure, the Inquirer reports.The portal says that the fact that the normally paranoid US government has shifted such a high-profile website to open source is a coup for free-as-in-freedom software advocates.I remember once one of my distinguished colleagues at a multinational corporation said that it’s degrading for a large company to use open source software. Well, this news effectively proves her wrong.
